Amateur Radio in the Classroom
The professors of the “Gymnase Intercantonal de la Broye” (Inter-Cantonal college of the Broye District [GYB]) have days on which they can customize their program.
During such days our club works sometimes together with the physics professor, to complete the theoretical skills of the students in electrical theory, radio wave propagation and make practical applications of what has been learned.
Our members calculate components such as coils, resistors and capacitors with the students and and measure with them with the electrical behavior of the parts in order to understand better the physical laws. Then, they develop with the students simple receiver circuits and finally each student builds his own receiver.
To break up the lessons, we visit with the students the Payerne Air Force Airbase, his apprentice workshops, the airman museum "Clin d'Ailes" and our radio shack. Thus, we want to provide interesting insights into technology and career possibilities.
It’s hardly necessary to mention that the practice and lesson for the students is very popular ...
